Are the people of Egypt are the same ones of the ancient one?

What I mean is, today Egyptians are a type of Arabs just like there are Syrians,Lebanese,Palestinians, Jordanians, etc. With the introduction of Islam to Egypt, did the people of ancient Egypt remained the same people today? Because back then they won't have been considered as a type of Arabs
