Installing Windows XP on laptop isn't working-can't copy files?

the process of copying files from the CD to the hard drive is failing for some reason. This may be because the disk is dirty or scratched (in which case you may be able to just clean it, or try a different cd), or the CD drive could be faulty (in which case you may need an external USB drive), or the hard drive could be faulty - in which case you need a new hard drive.
