I feel like a total '*****' - what should I do?

My good friend is being real anoying but and I've bitched about him to mine and his close friend. All about his pathetic attempts to woe. However now I feel annoyed because he is such a good person he hasn't found out or anything. I feel I want to confront him about this, yet talking to him about it doesn't seem to do anything. He is suffering from a total lack of confidence. What should I do? Thanks in advance
