Movie making? I'm very confused...?

So The only thing I've used for editing is windows movie maker. But I really love making movies and I want to become really good at vfx. I have enough money to get adobe after effects, but I'm wondering how hard is it to learn that from basically nothing? Or should I just get adobe elements for now? Also how hard is it to get as good as Freddiew or Corridor digital(on YouTube)???
