What is up on American Idol?

Can someone please tell me why Ryan Seacrest is getting so much money? Personally I think he sucks as a mc and he doesn't do anymore than the rest of the people on the show. I feel sorry for Paula because she should get the same amount as him or more. Ryan Seacrest is a loser.
